Race 7

So this race was probably one of my most memorable of them all. I went up to Galveston, Texas with my best friend Liane to the Hotel Galvez. We celebrate our birthdays each year by usually going on a Spa Day. They had a 5k/10k race the very next day, so I thought to myself…”I guess I can go do my 1st 10k race the next day!” :) I had begun my training for my 1st 1/2 marathon, which is to occur on Nov. 14, 2010 so I thought this would be a great warmup race. It was an exhilirating feeling running through the Strand and Historic District of Galveston. I just think it’s so cool that they block off the streets for runners! :) We were raising money to help revive the city of Galveston. It was hit a few years ago by Hurricane Ike, which wiped out a big chunk of the city. One thing that is so cool about all these races is there is usually a charity involved and money that is paid to enter the race goes towards that. I ran this race in 1 hour and 10 min, which was very cool for me! Great start to more 10k runs! :)
